Carbon steel is a combination of primarily two elements, carbon and iron. Other elements sometimes found in carbon steel in very small quantities are manganese, silicon and copper. Low carbon steel has similar properties as iron, being a somewhat soft steel. Steel with higher carbon content is stronger and harder but less ductile.
